Dear Journal…

Moving into a new career path is always daunting, no matter how much experience you may have. I joined Shire & Wold after an 18-year career in the private household industry. My skills range from private security to UHNW estate management.

Although I am stepping into a completely different role to what I have been used to, there are certainly many skills that I have been able to carry over. I like to pride myself on having a good understanding of the internal workings and politics of the running of a private household.

I have been able to use my previous experience to tailor how candidates are matched to roles. My main aim is to provide a completely bespoke service to build a strong relationship with clients and candidates alike and feel that this aligns with Shire & Wold’s ethos.

Like any new position, there are challenges. One challenge that comes up time and time again, is navigating candidate and client expectations in relation to experience vs salary level!

Loyalty and integrity have played a big part throughout my private household career, and I will always look out for these characteristics when recruiting for clients. I’m enjoying the role so far and have found it so rewarding to place candidates in the right positions.
