An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced, discreet, and hardworking Housekeeper to join the team at a prestigious private estate in Henley On Thames. This role is to start ASAP until the end of August.
This hands-on role focuses on the care and presentation of outbuildings, kitchen and chef support, and the management of household laundry and linen. The successful candidate will take pride in maintaining exceptional standards, work with efficiency and attention to detail, and demonstrate the professionalism expected within a private household.
Key Responsibilities
Outbuildings & Estate Support
• Cleaning and maintaining all estate outbuildings, including guest lodges, utility areas, garden buildings, and ancillary spaces
• Ensuring all areas remain clean, organised, and presented to household standards at all times
• Carrying out scheduled and seasonal deep cleaning tasks
• Reporting maintenance issues, damage, or supply requirements promptly.
Chef & Kitchen Support
• Supporting the Estate Chef with pantry organisation, stock rotation, labelling, and general kitchen upkeep
• Maintaining the cleanliness and organisation of kitchens, larders, cold stores, and associated back-of-house spaces
• Managing dishwashing, hand-washing delicate items, and ensuring correct storage of equipment and tableware
• Providing additional support during events, entertaining, and guest stays
Laundry & Linen Management
• Managing daily household laundry, including bed linen, towels and table linen.
• Operating laundry equipment in accordance with household procedures and fabric care guidelines
• Hand-washing, pressing, ironing, folding, and storing garments and linens to a high standard
General Responsibilities
• Supporting the wider housekeeping team during busy operational periods, guest stays, and principal visits
• Following household SOPs, routines, and schedules consistently
• Maintaining complete discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism at all times
• Working collaboratively within the household team to uphold exceptional estate standards
Person Specification
• Previous experience within a private household, luxury hospitality, yacht, chalet, or similarly high-standard environment preferred
• Strong attention to detail with a proactive and conscientious approach
• Sound knowledge of laundry procedures, fabric care, and specialist materials
• Ability to work independently and as part of a close, professional team
• Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise workload effectively
• Flexible, adaptable, and responsive to the changing needs of a busy private estate
• Full UK driving licence desirable
• Non-smoker preferred
• Comfortable working around dogs and other estate animals, where applicable
Working Hours:
Thursday – Sunday 8am – 7pm through to August
Salary £25.00 per hour
