Pastry Chef

A well-established and much-loved vegetarian hospitality group based in the Lake District is seeking a creative, enthusiastic Pastry Chef to join their dynamic team. Spanning multiple venues, including a vegetarian restaurant, Mediterranean-inspired dining, boutique cinemas, and a B&B, our client offers a unique opportunity to be part of a thriving hospitality business in one of the UK’s most scenic locations.

The ideal candidate has a passion for baking, excellent attention to detail, and experience working in a high-quality kitchen, café or bakery environment. Full training is available for junior or aspiring pastry chefs with a great attitude and willingness to learn.

Duties outlined but not limited to:

  • Production of a variety of plant-based desserts, pastries, and baked goods
  • Menu development including vegan and gluten-free options
  • Presentation and plating to a high standard, aligned with house style
  • Working with seasonal ingredients and flavour pairings
  • Daily mise en place, baking, and production for service
  • Stock management, waste reduction, and cost control awareness
  • Kitchen hygiene and food safety compliance (clean down, temperature logs, allergen management, etc.)
  • Collaboration with the wider kitchen and front-of-house team
  • Occasional customer feedback response and seasonal menu refreshes

Qualities & Skills:

  • Experience as a pastry chef, baker or commis chef in a restaurant or café setting (preferred)
  • Strong understanding of vegetarian/vegan baking or willingness to learn
  • Organised, reliable, and able to work with precision under pressure
  • Eye for detail in both flavour and presentation
  • Understanding of food hygiene, allergens, and dietary restrictions
  • NVQ in Patisserie or Culinary Arts (or equivalent) desirable
  • Creative, positive and proactive team player
