Part-time Housekeeper, Oxford, UK

A lovely, relaxed family of three based in Central Oxford are seeking a warm, capable and proactive Part-Time Housekeeper to support them in the smooth day-to-day running of their family home.The family have one child and a much-loved dog, so they are looking for someone who will enjoy becoming a trusted and valued part of their household. This is a relaxed home where the emphasis is on keeping everything fresh, organised and beautifully maintained, rather than following an overly rigid daily routine.

The property is a four-bedroom family home with reception rooms. Only two of the bedrooms are regularly occupied, with the additional bedrooms primarily used when guests come to stay, approximately 3–4 times per year.

The family are looking for an experienced Housekeeper who can confidently manage their own time and prioritise what needs to be done. Rather than feeling that every task needs to be completed every day, the ideal candidate will naturally understand what should be tackled on a daily, weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis. They will be observant and proactive, noticing when something needs attention and getting on with it without needing constant direction.

Duties outlined not limited to :

• General housekeeping and maintaining the home to a high standard
• Hoovering, dusting and general cleaning
• Ironing, with some items outsourced where appropriate
• Light laundry support – the Principal manages much of their own personal laundry
• Keeping cupboards, drawers and household areas organised
• Fridge organisation and keeping an eye on freshness and stock
• Periodic deeper cleaning and household tasks
• Preparing guest bedrooms when required
• Keeping the home fresh, tidy and welcoming
• Occasional simple family cooking or batch cooking – desired not essential
• Helping with general household organisation as needed

While this position is initially part-time, there is the potential for the role to develop into a full-time position if desired, working on a shared basis with another local family. This is completely optional, but could be a lovely opportunity for a candidate who is ultimately looking for full-time hours while still enjoying the variety of working across two private family homes.
