Part-time Chef

We are seeking an experienced and reliable Part-Time Chef to support a busy household close to Altrincham, in Hale, Cheshire. The principal runs multiple businesses and requires a chef who can ease the day-to-day burden by preparing fresh, wholesome, and varied meals for the family.

The Chef will work three evenings per week: Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, providing nutritious, home-style meals tailored to both adults and teenagers. This position requires someone confident in producing a wide range of healthy, hearty dishes and child-friendly options across different cuisines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan weekly menus in advance and confirm meal choices with the principal.
  • Handle all provisioning, including sourcing fresh, high-quality ingredients.
  • Prepare and cook meals for:
  • Monday & Tuesday: family dinners (3 teenagers and the principal’s children aged 13, 16, and 18, plus occasional visits from an older child aged 21).
  • Wednesday: meals for 1–2 adults.
  • Serve meals fresh or prepare dishes to be reheated as needed.
  • Ensure meals are ready for a typical dinner time of 6:30–7:00pm.
  • Provide approximately 3 hours of work per day on each scheduled evening.
  • Maintain a clean and organised kitchen workspace at all times.

Candidate Requirements

  • Experience cooking for families, including teenagers and adults.
  • Strong background in healthy, varied, and flavourful cooking.
  • Ability to create wholesome, home-style meals using different cuisines.
  • Excellent organisation and communication skills, especially regarding menu planning and provisioning.
  • Reliable, professional, and respectful of a family home environment.

Contract & Compensation

  • Self-employed position; candidates will invoice for services.
  • Hourly rate negotiable, depending on experience.
