Live-out Maintenance person , Burford UK

A fantastic opportunity has become available for a practical, hardworking and enthusiastic Maintenance Person to join a large private estate near Burford, Oxfordshire. Working as part of an established estate team, alongside experienced gardeners and maintenance staff, this is a varied, hands-on position for someone who enjoys practical work and is happy to turn their hand to whatever needs doing.

The family is open to considering candidates at different stages of their career. You may already be a highly skilled maintenance professional with experience across private estates, properties or buildings, or you may be at the beginning of your career and looking for an opportunity where you can learn, develop and be trained by an experienced team.

Duties outlined not limited to :

  • Assist with the general maintenance and upkeep of the estate and its properties.
  • Carry out day-to-day repairs and practical maintenance tasks.
  • Support with basic plumbing, decorating, painting, carpentry and general DIY where appropriate.
  • Identify maintenance issues and report or resolve them promptly.
  • Assist external contractors and tradespeople when required.
  • Support the wider estate team with ongoing projects.
  • Help maintain outdoor areas, buildings, garages, workshops and estate facilities.
  • Assist the gardening team when additional support is required.
  • Help with moving furniture, deliveries, equipment and other practical estate tasks.
  • Maintain tools, machinery and work areas appropriately.
  • Be willing to turn your hand to different jobs depending on the needs of the estate.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Practical, hands-on and enjoys problem-solving.
  • Happy working as part of a larger established estate team.
  • Reliable, hardworking and punctual.
  • Flexible and willing to help wherever required.
  • Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors throughout the year.
  • Keen to learn new skills and take direction from more experienced team members.
  • Able to work independently once trained and confident in their responsibilities.
  • Respectful and discreet when working within a private family environment.
  • A good team player with a positive, can-do attitude.

Previous maintenance, construction, property, gardening, grounds or trade experience would be advantageous but is not essential for the right candidate.

This could equally suit someone with considerable maintenance experience or an enthusiastic candidate looking to build a long-term career within private estate maintenance.

Requirements

  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Comfortable with physical and practical work.
  • Willingness to learn and develop.
  • Flexibility and a genuine team mentality.
  • Previous private estate experience is advantageous but not essential.

Location: Burford, Oxfordshire Full-Time : Permanent

Hours :Monday to Friday

Days : 9am – 5.30pm

Salary : £35k to £45k Experience dependent
