Live-out Laundry Assistant, Hampshire

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Laundry Assistant to join the House Team of a prestigious private estate. Working in the estate’s purpose-built laundry, the role involves washing, steaming, pressing, and caring for household laundry to the highest standard, including delicate and high-value garments. Discretion and professionalism are essential.

During quieter periods, the Laundry Assistant will support housekeeping across the main house, outbuildings, and guest areas.

Key Responsibilities

Laundry & Wardrobe Care:

  • Wash, dry, steam, and press household laundry, uniforms, and linens.
  • Care for delicate and high-value garments, including silk, cashmere, and formalwear.
  • Support the House Manager with the care and presentation of the principal’s wife’s wardrobe.
  • Ensure all linen is stored correctly and ready for use.
  • Report any damage or repairs needed.

Housekeeping Support:

  • Assist the House Team with general cleaning duties during quieter periods.
  • Maintain high standards across the estate, including guest areas, studios, and staff accommodation.
  • Support seasonal deep cleaning and preparation for family visits.

Teamwork & Professionalism:

  • Work under the guidance of the Senior House Assistant and in collaboration with the wider team.
  • Maintain discretion and professionalism at all times.
  • Follow health and safety protocols and risk assessments.

Candidate Profile

  • Previous experience in a formal private residence, luxury yacht, or high-end hotel.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, time management, and pride in delivering high standards.
  • Flexible, reliable, proactive, and willing to assist across the estate.
  • Energetic and physically fit to work across multiple floors and estate areas.
  • Discreet, trustworthy, and professional.
  • Able to work evenings and weekends, particularly during the shoot season.
  • Team player with excellent communication skills.

Terms & Package

  • Salary: £40,000GPA
  • Probation: 6 months
  • Hours: Flexible, including evenings and weekends during shoot season or family visits. Structure and down-time when not shoot season.
  • Annual Leave: 25 days plus public holidays
  • Pension: 5% employer / 3% employee (after 3 months)
  • Private Medical Insurance: 50% employer contribution (after probation)
  • Bonus: Discretionary, performance-based
  • Sick Pay: Up to 3 months after one year’s service
