We are looking for a dedicated, skilled and detail-driven Live-out Landscape & Parkland Gardener to join the garden and landscape team on a prestigious private estate, close to Andover in Hampshire. With a strong passion for horticulture and grounds care, you will play a key role in maintaining the Estate’s parkland and landscaped grounds.
Working under the guidance of the Team Leader and reporting to the Head Gardener, you will be responsible for the care and presentation of the Front Park, Arboretum, Lady’s Walk, Upper Park (North and South) and Paddocks. From time to time, you may be required to undertake additional duties as requested by the Estate Management Team.
Duties include
- Supporting the Team Leader with the planning and delivery of garden and parkland maintenance
- Operating pedestrian, ride-on and tractor-mounted grass-cutting equipment to maintain high-quality lawns and grassland areas
- Carrying out routine tasks including watering, weeding, pruning, planting and fertilising
- Monitoring and controlling turf pests and diseases across the Estate
- Planting, cultivating and maintaining lawns, wildflower meadows, shrubs, trees and planted areas
- Assisting with landscaping and improvement projects
- Maintaining tools, machinery and equipment in safe working order
- Regularly inspecting all areas, including less visible locations, to ensure consistently high standards
- Maintaining pristine conditions in high-traffic and presentation-critical areas
- Respecting the privacy and confidentiality of the Estate’s owners, residents and guests at all times
Teamwork and communication
- Working collaboratively with the wider garden and parkland team to ensure efficient operations
- Communicating clearly with the Team Leader regarding issues, supplies and maintenance requirements
Safety and compliance
- Working in line with all health and safety legislation and best practice
- Reading, understanding and following risk assessments and safety procedures as directed
Your work will help ensure that the Estate provides a welcoming, well-maintained environment for owners, residents, team members and visitors, regardless of weather or operational challenges.
Experience and skills required
- Experience in amenity horticulture or groundsmanship, with practical knowledge of lawn care
- Strong understanding of turf maintenance techniques
- Experience working with wildflower meadows (preferred)
- Extensive experience operating horticultural and grounds machinery
- Relevant certifications preferred, including chainsaw maintenance and use, tree felling, tractor operation, turf care machinery, and PA1/PA6a
- Horticultural or groundsmanship qualifications, particularly relating to lawns and tree care (desirable)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Physically fit and able to undertake manual work
- Strong attention to detail and high personal standards
- Good communication skills and a professional approach
- Full UK driving licence with own car due to the location of the property
- Discrete, reliable and trustworthy, with a strong sense of confidentiality
- Proactive, flexible and willing to support other Estate teams when required
Working hours and conditions
- 5 days per week, 8:00am – 5:00pm
- Some weekend work required on a rota basis
- Lunch provided when on duty
- This role involves physical work, including lifting, bending and standing for extended periods, with extensive use of heavy machinery and outdoor work in all weather conditions
Salary: £32,000 – £37,000 gross per annum
