We are seeking an experienced, proactive Live-out Housekeeper to join a busy private family household in Wilmslow, Cheshire. This full-time role involves maintaining the home to an exceptional standard, taking ownership of its day-to-day running and supporting the family with general household requirements.
The ideal candidate will notice what needs doing and act without waiting to be asked. They will be equally comfortable working independently and taking direction, with a calm, positive and capable approach.
Responsibilities
- Carry out all housekeeping duties, including thorough cleaning and upkeep of kitchens, bathrooms and living areas.
- Care for high-end finishes, furnishings, delicate fabrics and fine linens.
- Manage laundry, ironing, bed making and general organisation.
- Keep household and kitchen supplies stocked; receive and unpack grocery deliveries.
- Prepare the home for the family’s return from travel, including refreshing rooms, stocking the fridge and ensuring everything is ready for their arrival.
- Run household errands and assist with reasonable ad hoc family requirements.
- Work closely with other household staff and the family office when required.
- Liaise with contractors, tradespeople and suppliers, arrange access and oversee work in the home.
- Identify maintenance issues and help ensure they are addressed promptly.
Wardrobe and travel support
- Unpack luggage and keep wardrobes meticulously organised.
- Launder, steam and press garments, handling delicate, couture and valuable pieces with appropriate care.
- Prepare and pack luggage when required.
- Be open to occasional UK or international travel in the future to help prepare properties ahead of the family’s arrival.
The ideal candidate
- Has at least three years’ relevant private household experience and excellent, verifiable references.
- Holds a current DBS certificate and a full driving licence.
- Has strong spoken and written English and excellent communication skills.
- Takes pride in exceptional standards, attention to detail and anticipating the household’s needs.
- Is discreet, trustworthy, adaptable and respectful of the family’s privacy.
- Works well both independently and alongside other household staff.
- Is confident dealing with contractors, tradespeople and suppliers.
No cooking or childcare is required; the family employs a Chef and Nannies.
Location: Wilmslow, Cheshire
Hours: Monday to Friday, approximately 9am–5pm
Salary: £45,000–£50,000, depending on experience; negotiable for the right candidate
Start date: Late October or early November 2026
Driving: Full driving licence essential
