Live-out House Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Live-out House Assistant to join the House Team of a prestigious private estate. The role involves maintaining the cleanliness, presentation, and high standards of the main house, outbuildings, guest cottages, and staff accommodation. Discretion and professionalism are essential.

You will work as part of a fully staffed household including Butlers, Chefs, Security, Gamekeepers, and Gardeners, ensuring seamless operations and impeccable presentation.

Key Responsibilities:

Cleaning & Housekeeping

  • Maintain all areas of the estate to the highest standards, including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, sanitising, and polishing.
  • Care for fine furniture, fixtures, silver, and delicate materials.
  • Manage laundry, wardrobe, and bed linen, ensuring impeccable presentation.
  • Inspect all areas for quality and consistency, including high-traffic and hidden spaces.

Teamwork & Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Senior House Assistant and House Team to ensure efficient coverage and smooth operations.
  • Communicate effectively regarding supplies, maintenance, or operational issues.

Discretion & Professionalism

  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality and respect the privacy of residents and guests at all times.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow health and safety guidelines, risk assessments, and estate protocols.
  • Report maintenance and repair needs promptly.

Candidate Profile

  • Previous experience in a formal private residence, luxury yacht, or high-end hotel.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organisation, and pride in high standards.
  • Flexible, reliable, proactive, and willing to assist across household tasks.
  • Energetic and physically fit to work across multiple floors and estate areas.
  • Discreet, trustworthy, and professional.
  • Team player with excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Willing to work evenings and weekends during the shoot season.

Terms & Package

  • Salary: £40,000GPA
  • Probation: 6 months
  • Hours: Flexible, including evenings and weekends during shoot season or family visits. Structure and down-time when not shoot season.
  • Annual Leave: 25 days plus public holidays
  • Pension: 5% employer / 3% employee (after 3 months)
  • Private Medical Insurance: 50% employer contribution (after probation)
  • Bonus: Discretionary, performance-based
  • Sick Pay: Up to 3 months after one year’s service
