We are looking for a warm, dependable and experienced Live-in Housekeeper to join a kind and welcoming family at their substantial private residence, situated in a beautiful village on the Berkshire border.
The family are seeking someone who is looking for a long-term position and who will enjoy becoming a valued part of their existing household team, working alongside a full-time cleaner, gardener and house manger . This is very much a team environment, and they would love to find someone who is proactive, flexible and naturally happy to lend a hand wherever needed.
Alongside maintaining the home to a high standard, the ideal candidate will enjoy family-style cooking and baking and be confident preparing fresh, wholesome and uncomplicated meals for the family.
This is a relaxed, informal and friendly household, so personality and fit are particularly important. The family would love someone warm, kind and trustworthy who takes pride in their work,while maintaining the highest professional standards, discretion and respect for privacy.and will genuinely enjoy becoming part of the household for many years to come.
Duties outlined but not be limited to:
- Maintaining the house to an exceptionally high standard of cleanliness, presentation and organisation.
- Daily housekeeping, including the care of bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, reception rooms and family living areas.
- Full household laundry, ironing and careful wardrobe management, including the care of fine fabrics and arranging specialist dry cleaning where appropriate.
- Preparing fresh, wholesome family-style meals to a consistently high standard. The family enjoy simple, well-cooked food rather than formal or restaurant-style dining, so confidence in producing delicious everyday meals is essential.
- Assisting with menu planning, grocery lists, stock rotation and maintaining a clean, organised kitchen.
- Helping prepare the house for family gatherings, informal entertaining and visiting guests, including laying tables, assisting with service where required and returning the home to its usual immaculate standard afterwards.
- Monitoring household supplies and advising when replenishment is required.
- Reporting maintenance issues promptly to the family or appropriate contractors.
- Assisting with the day-to-day care of the family’s dogs and cat when required.
- Working collaboratively with other members of the household team to ensure the home runs smoothly and efficiently.
Essential
- Previous experience as a Housekeeper within a substantial private household.
- Exceptional housekeeping standards.
- Excellent laundry and wardrobe management skills.
- Strong organisational ability.
- Confidence preparing fresh family meals.
- Experience catering for gluten-free dietary requirements.
- Ability to work independently.
- Excellent spoken English.
- High levels of discretion and confidentiality.
- Comfortable around dogs and cats.
- Full Uk driving licence
Hours : Monday to Friday – Flexibility on occasional weekends.
Salary: £45k-£50k Plus
