Live-in Houseman, Burford. UK

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Houseman for an Estate in Burford , with previous private household experience who takes pride in maintaining the highest standards throughout the property and grounds. The successful candidate will be confident working independently, using their own initiative, while also thriving as part of a wider household team. This role would suit either an experienced Houseman seeking their next long-term position or a candidate looking to further develop their career within a supportive private household environment. Working closely with the family and household staff, you will be comfortable stepping forward when support is required and equally adept at stepping back to respect the family’s privacy and routines. Flexibility, discretion, and a positive, can-do attitude are essential.

Duties outlined not limited to:

• Opening and closing the property each day
• Daily household and estate checks to ensure smooth operations
• General maintenance and upkeep of the property
• Swimming pool maintenance and monitoring
• Managing household inventories and supplies
• Assisting with setting up rooms and household areas for family and guests
• Supporting service during family residence and entertaining
• Assisting with vehicle care and general driving duties
• Caring for the family’s dogs, chickens, and pigs when required
• Supporting the wider household team with day-to-day operations
• Preparing light meals, breakfasts, and refreshments when required
• Maintaining the highest levels of discretion and professionalism at all times

Candidate Requirements:

• Previous experience within a private household, estate, hospitality, or similar environment preferred
• Practical, hands-on approach with excellent attention to detail
• Confident working independently and as part of a team
• Comfortable around animals and experienced with pet care
• Flexible, adaptable, and willing to assist where needed
• Professional, discreet, and trustworthy
• Full clean driving licence 
• Full reference checks

Location: Burford, Oxfordshire

Accommodation: Live-in accommodation provided

Hours: Thursday to Monday
