Live-in Housekeeper/Cook

We are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of our very lovely clients who reside outside the picturesque village of Bibury in the Cotswolds. They are actively seeking a Live-in Housekeeper/Cook to join their household. This is a warm and welcoming family home, perfect for a candidate who enjoys both domestic duties and culinary creativity.

Role Overview

The ideal candidate will be confident preparing everyday meals and comfortable following new recipes as required. Cooking is primarily for the family and visiting relatives, with main meals typically served over the weekends. The position involves working alongside the Employer in the kitchen and candidate must have culinary experience, potentially capable of assisting when entertaining guests. General housekeeping duties are mainly kitchen-based, with additional daily help employed for other domestic tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing lunch, and dinner, mainly over weekends. When enteraining candidate will be requested to prepare breakfast
  • Cook evening meals during the week as required
  • Assist the Employer and/or Chef during entertaining
  • Maintain a clean and well-organised kitchen, including fridges and larder
  • Manage stock levels and undertake the weekly grocery shop
  • Run errands as needed
  • House sit when the family is away
  • Walk the family dogs

Requirements

  • Confident, capable cook with a love of home-style, seasonal food
  • Flexibility and a proactive, can-do attitude
  • Comfortable with dogs and rural living
  • A full driving license is essential – car can be provided 
  • Previous experience in a similar private household role is beneficial

Working Schedule & Package

  • 5 days per week, with 2 days off mid-week
  • One long weekend off per month (Friday to Monday), other weekends off when household is quiet
  • Salary: £40,000 per annum, negotiable depending on experience
  • Accommodation: Charming 2-bedroom cottage approx. 7 minutes from the main house – partners and small pets welcome
