Live – in Housekeeper, Burford, UK

A private family based near Burford in the Cotswolds is seeking a personable Housekeeper to join their established household team.

This opportunity would suit someone currently working within luxury hospitality, high-end housekeeping or a service-focused environment who is looking to transition into a long-term role within a private household. The family is happy to consider candidates who may not have extensive private household experience but who are eager to learn, have excellent standards, and enjoy being part of a wider, supportive team.

The property is a beautifully maintained family home with grown-up children who regularly visit, creating a warm yet organised household environment. The successful candidate will work alongside an additional housekeeper, houseman/butler/driver, and gardening team, so a positive and team-oriented attitude is essential.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Full housekeeping duties to a high standard
  • Daily cleaning, laundry, ironing, and wardrobe care
  • Care of fine furnishings, antiques, silver, and crystal
  • Food preparation and light family cooking
  • Table setting and assisting when entertaining guests
  • Household organisation and receiving deliveries
  • Running errands and household shopping
  • Watering indoor plants and flowers
  • Dog walking and occasional house sitting
  • Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the household alongside the wider team

Candidate Requirements:

  • Background within luxury hospitality, housekeeping, or private households
  • A willingness to learn and develop within a private household environment
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Positive, flexible, and service-oriented attitude
  • Enjoyment of cooking and food preparation
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Fluent English essential
  • Full UK driving licence required due to rural location
  • Non-smoker
  • Must have the legal right to work in the UK

Working Schedule:

Flexibility is required regarding working days and hours. Weekend work will be required, with two days off typically taken during the week. Occasional weekends off may be arranged by mutual agreement depending on the family’s schedule.

Hours: 45 hours per week (9 hours per day)
