Live-in Housekeeper

We are currently seeking an experienced Live-in Housekeeper for a beautiful, classically English 4-bedroom property with large entertaining spaces, property based in Burford, the Cotswolds. This role is ideally suited to someone who loves rural, countryside living and is a genuine dog lover, as the family have two dogs.

This is a wonderful opportunity to join a warm and welcoming property. The ideal candidate will bring a proactive, can-do attitude, along with a kind, discreet, and intuitive approach someone who naturally knows how to read the room and adapt to the needs of the principals. As the principal’s travel for extended periods throughout the year, the successful candidate must be confident working independently and be comfortable taking full responsibility for the property, including staying on-site while the principal’s travel.

Duties Outlined Not limited to :

  • Daily housekeeping to an exceptional standard
  • Laundry, ironing, and wardrobe management
  • Wardrobe management
  • Sewing is a bonus
  • Care of delicate and specialist surfaces typical of a period property
  • maintaining organisation across the home and implementing long-term systems for smooth household running
  • Working collaboratively as part of a small, established team (including a full-time gardener)
  • Candidate Requirements:
  • Proven experience working in traditional or period English properties
  • Highly organised with the ability to plan and manage a home efficiently
  • Discreet, trustworthy, and personable
  • A strong team player with a flexible approach
  • Confident driver (essential due to location)
  • Cooking is not required, though would be considered a bonus

This is a long-term position within a respectful and friendly household, where both the principals and candidate value mutual respect and a harmonious working environment.

The role includes a 2-bedroom cottage adjoining the property with own front door , with future plans for a separate cottage within the village. When the principals travel (which

may be for a few months of the year), the candidate will be required to move into the cottage provided on site.

Hours : Monday to Friday 9am – 5.30pm – prearranged weekend work

Salary: £40k Plus

Starts: June July 2026 – Can be negotiable for the right Candidate
