Live in House manager

We are currently seeking a Live-in House Manager for our busy household in Notting Hill. We are a family of six with four children between the ages of 17 – 8 and an array of pets including a dog and 2 cats. This role will require a candidate with extensive experience working in private residences for UHNW clients who has gained an in-depth understanding of what is required to ensure the smooth running of both a residence and family life. In this role, you will require a dynamic skill set, excellent initiative, strong communication, and a flexible attitude as you will be the principals first port of call when it comes to matters relating to the household.

This role is both hands-on and managerial so applicants must have both skill sets (gained through previous roles) and be happy with this balance.

Duties will include (but not limited to):

• Supervising and managing 2 housekeepers (assisting with hands-on housekeeping when required), and overseeing the daily operations of the household to ensure efficiency and discretion

• Liaising with other staff at the property including gardeners and maintenance staff

• Cooking fresh, healthy meals as required

• Ensuring the home is always maintained to an exceptional standard, reporting maintenance issues promptly and coordinating with outside contractors for repairs

• Helping with lunch/dinner parties (2 a month to be scheduled at least a week in advance) including cooking, setting and laying of tables, help clearing up

• Provisioning for the house (doing food shops for family)

• Driving errands as required, including daily school drop off/pick up

• Light maintenance tasks like changing lightbulbs, paint touch ups, etc

• Taking care of the property, fine furniture, artwork, fabrics and special finishes

• Assisting in managing household budgets, including expenses and purchases

• You may be asked to travel in advance to prepare for the family’s arrival at one of their other residences, so must be happy to travel within the UK and overseas The ideal candidate will have a background in House Management and will be looking for a long-term role in a family environment. Excellent communication, attention to detail, discretion, and a hardworking nature is a must for this role. Teamwork is a key factor as the candidate will be working with the family, nannies, live-out/live-in Housekeepers, and a PA. An ability to take initiative and manage responsibilities is also a must.

Requirements:

• Full, clean, and valid UK driver’s license

• Full DBS check required

• Passport holder

• Fluent English

Location: Notting Hill, London Salary: £59,000

Contract Length: Permanent

Start date: Immediately

Working Days: Your normal working days and hours will vary depending on whether the family is in residence or abroad. The family is abroad for roughly 4 months of each year, with absences structured around school holidays. When the family is in residence, your working days will be Monday to Saturday, and your working hours will be 07:00 – 18:30 (reduced hours on Saturdays). When the family is abroad, your working hours will be 09:00 – 17:00, Monday to Friday.

This is a live in position and the accommodation is a one bedroom apartment within the property.

 

Holiday allowance: 36 days paid holiday allowance each year, to be taken when the family is not in London
