We are seeking an experienced Live-In Domestic Couple for a beautiful private family property in Hampshire. This is a long-term opportunity for a professional and discreet couple who take pride in maintaining a high-standard private household and grounds.
The roles comprise a Housekeeper/Cook working four days per week and a Gardener working five days per week.
Please note: the accommodation is suitable for a couple only. No dependants or pets.
Housekeeper / Cook – Key Responsibilities
- Maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and organisation throughout all interior areas
- Turn-down service when required
- Detailed cleaning and servicing of guest bedrooms and guest areas
- Care and maintenance of artwork, furnishings, fixtures, surfaces, fabrics, and carpets
- Deep cleaning of all interior and storage areas
- Daily cleaning and restocking of staff areas and supplies
- Preparing the house to an exceptional standard for guest arrivals
- Laundry management, including sorting, stain removal, washing, ironing, and pressing of all household and staff items
- Monitoring laundry machinery and overseeing any related maintenance work
- Maintaining cleanliness of the laundry room and equipment
- Assisting with unpacking provisions and managing household stock and inventories
- Monitoring laundry supplies and reporting low stock
- Cooking for the family and guests when required
- Assisting with breakfast, lunch, and dinner service as needed
- Working alternate weekends when the family are in residence
Gardener – Key Responsibilities
- Working alongside the Senior Gardener to maintain extensively refurbished formal and informal gardens
- Care of the Kitchen Garden, swimming pool area, formal hedging, topiary, clipped trees, and potted plants
- Maintenance of wider estate grounds including pastureland, riverbanks, woodland, boundary hedging, and trees
- Propagation, cultivation, harvesting, and supply of seasonal fruit and vegetables for household use
- Regular maintenance of lawns, including fertilisation, mowing, chemical treatments, and irrigation monitoring
- Swimming pool maintenance, including water quality, chemical balance, heating, and record keeping
- Upkeep of hard landscaping including driveways, paving, tennis court, and pickleball court
- Monitoring and maintenance of outbuildings such as the greenhouse, barn, and pool house
- Processing fallen trees and limbs into firewood and storage
- Reporting all maintenance, security, and safety issues to the House Manager and Senior Gardener
- Safe operation of all tools and machinery, including pre-use inspections
- Assisting with the day-to-day care and wellbeing of the family dog
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience in similar private household roles
- High attention to detail and pride in maintaining exceptional standards
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an established estate team
- Physically fit and confident working at heights (gardener role)
- Flexible, reliable, and discreet
- Genuine dog lovers
- Must have the legal right to work in the UK
Accommodation & Household Support
- Occasional overnight care of the family dog is required (shared responsibility with the House Manager)
- When the live-in House Manager is away overnight, the couple must remain on-site
- Applicants must be genuine dog lovers
Salary: £65,000 gross (Housekeeper/Cook & Gardener combined) + accommodation
Accommodation: Private one-bedroom flat with separate kitchen and private entrance
