We are seeking an experienced, professional Domestic Couple is sought to join a welcoming family in their private home in Berkshire. This is a hands-on role for a friendly, organised and discreet couple who enjoy working together to maintain a beautiful family home. Working alongside an existing cleaner and full-time gardener, you will ensure the property is maintained to an exceptional standard while supporting the day-to-day running of the household.
The family enjoy relaxed, informal entertaining, and are looking for a couple who are flexible, proactive and happy to assist wherever required. This is a wonderful opportunity for an experienced Domestic Couple seeking a long-term position within a relaxed, welcoming family household where high standards, trust and teamwork are valued.
Duties Outlined but not limited to :
Housekeeper / Cook
- Maintaining the home to an exceptional standard of cleanliness and presentation.
- Full housekeeping duties, including cleaning, laundry, ironing and wardrobe care.
- Preparing fresh, nutritious family-style meals using seasonal ingredients.
- Planning simple menus, managing kitchen supplies and keeping the kitchen organised.
- Preparing guest bedrooms and ensuring the home is always beautifully presented.
- Assisting with informal entertaining, including table setting, serving and clearing when required.
- Caring for delicate fabrics, fine linens and specialist garments.
Houseman / Maintenance & Driver
- Carrying out routine property inspections and first-line maintenance.
- Coordinating contractors and reporting maintenance issues.
- Maintaining the immediate exterior areas around the house, including entrances, patios and outdoor furniture.
- Supporting the gardener when required with light exterior duties.
- Providing chauffeuring, airport and station transfers, shopping and household errands.
- Assisting with household security, deliveries and general estate organisation.
Shared Responsibilities
- Caring for two dogs and one cat when required.
- Supporting family entertaining and visiting guests.
- Working closely with the existing household staff.
- Maintaining complete discretion and confidentiality.
- Taking pride in presenting the home to the highest standards at all times.
- Adopting a flexible, hands-on approach and assisting wherever needed.
Person Specification
- Previous experience working as a Domestic Couple within a private household.
- Excellent housekeeping and laundry skills.
- A confident cook able to prepare simple, high-quality family meals.
- Strong practical maintenance and DIY experience.
- Excellent communication skills and spoken English.
- A proactive, organised and professional approach.
- A full UK driving licence (preferred).
- A genuine love of animals.
- Absolute discretion, integrity and respect for privacy.
Hours
- 40 hours per week
- Five days per week
- Flexibility required for occasional evenings, weekends and family entertaining, with overtime or time off in lieu provided by agreement.
Salary: £70,000–£85,000 combined, depending on experience
Accommodation : A well-presented two-bedroom cottage is provided within the grounds as part of this live-in position.
