A fully staffed private household on a beautiful estate in Stratford-upon-Avon is seeking a professional, hands-on Houseman to join their team. The role is five days a week including weekends, with two days off during the week, and occasional travel to the family’s residence in Scotland.
This is a varied and rewarding position, ideal for someone proactive, reliable, and happy working as part of a close-knit team. A key aspect of the role involves helping to care for the family’s beloved dogs — a Cockapoo and a Flat-Coated Retriever puppy — especially when the family is away.
Key Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
- Opening and closing the property daily
- Routine household and estate checks
- Lighting and maintaining fires and fireplaces
- General maintenance duties
- Heavy-duty cleaning, including use of floor polishers and machinery
- Assisting with informal service (training provided if needed)
- Supporting general upkeep of the home inside and out
- Dog care and exercising when required
- Driving duties, including maintaining household vehicles
- Assisting during weekends and when travelling with the family
Candidate Requirements:
- Discreet, professional, and team-oriented
- Proactive and willing to take initiative
- Comfortable with dogs and happy to help with pet care
- Flexibility to travel occasionally with the family
- Must be available to work weekends
Accommodation & Salary:
- Live-in accommodation provided: A private 2-bedroom flat on the estate
- (Families and dogs welcome – no cats, please)
- Salary: From £30,000+, depending on experience
