We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head Gardener to join a prestigious estate in Northern Fife. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in horticulture, with exceptional leadership skills and a keen eye for maintaining the aesthetic and health of the estate’s expansive gardens and grounds. This role will involve overseeing all aspects of garden maintenance, landscape design, and ensuring that the estate’s grounds are kept to the highest standards of excellence.
Duties outlined but not limited to:
- Plan and implement seasonal planting, pruning, and landscaping tasks.
- Oversee the health and wellbeing of plants, trees, and lawns, including pest and weed control.
- Work with the estate management to plan for special events or seasonal displays.
- Manage garden tools and equipment, ensuring they are maintained and in good working condition.
- Collaborate with the estate’s other departments to ensure smooth operations and scheduling of garden-related tasks
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Head Gardener or in a similar senior horticultural role.
- Strong knowledge of plant care, garden maintenance, and hard landscapes.
- Leadership experience with the ability to manage a small team of contractors from time to time.
- Excellent attention to detail and a passion for creating beautiful, well-maintained outdoor spaces.
- A relevant horticultural qualification such as RHS is desirable.
- Experience working in high-profile or estate gardens is a plus.
- Good organisational and communication skills.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and estate management and maintenance.
Additional Information:
- This role requires 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8/8:30 – 4/4:30
- This is a live-out position
Salary: £25,000 – £30,000 gross per annum
