4 x Chalet Chefs, Verbier, Switzerland

We are seeking talented, personable Chalet Chefs to join a luxury chalet team in Verbier for the winter ski season. This is an opportunity to bring creativity, exceptional cooking and warm hospitality to a guest-facing role in the Swiss Alps.

Yachting or previous ski season experience is highly desirable. Chefs with a strong background in fine dining, Michelin-level restaurants or private households will also be warmly considered.

The Role

Working in an open kitchen, you will be a welcoming and professional presence within the chalet, building rapport with guests and tailoring your cooking to their tastes. You should be equally comfortable preparing relaxed family meals, children’s favourites and beautifully presented formal dinners.

You will have considerable creative freedom over your menus, with guest dietary requirements and preferences shared ahead of arrival. Thoughtful planning, excellent ingredients and an adaptable approach will be central to delivering a memorable experience for each family.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare breakfasts, afternoon teas, canapés and dinners to a consistently high standard.
  • Work closely with guests to understand their preferences, dietary requirements and cultural expectations.
  • Create varied, balanced menus, adapting confidently between family-style dining and formal service.
  • Source quality ingredients through local butchers, cheesemongers, fishmongers, supermarkets and other suppliers.
  • Manage stock carefully, minimise food waste and maintain an organised kitchen.
  • Prepare separate children’s meals when required.
  • Maintain excellent food hygiene, cleanliness and kitchen standards.
  • Support colleagues across other chalets when guest schedules and workloads require flexibility.

Menus may be reused for different families, provided they are tailored to the incoming guests.

Working Pattern

5.5 days per week, with 1.5 days off and five dinner services each week.

  • Breakfast: A set breakfast offering, with scope to create a daily special.
  • Afternoon tea: Tailored to the guests’ preferences.
  • Children’s dinner: Usually around 5:00–5:30pm, where children are dining separately.
  • Canapés: Served at approximately 7:15pm.
  • Dinner: Served at approximately 8:30pm.

The role requires flexibility around guests’ plans. If your chalet is quieter, you may occasionally be asked to support a chef in a busier chalet.

Kitchens and Equipment

Each chalet has a well-equipped domestic kitchen, including a Thermomix and KitchenAid as standard. Additional equipment can be requested where needed.

Arrival and Orientation

Chefs will fly to Switzerland on 29 November 2026, ahead of a 12-day orientation and training programme, with the first guests arriving from 13 December.

Orientation will include cook-offs, chef dinners, breakfast services and canapé evenings. These sessions are designed to help chefs settle in, understand expectations and showcase their strengths so they can be matched appropriately with guests.

Package

  • £2,750 gross per month
  • £1,000 guaranteed completion bonus, payable on completion of the full season.
  • CHF 50 per week towards personal food.
  • Tips shared equally amongst your chalet team
  • Paid throughout the assignment, including periods when the chalet is unoccupied.
  • Flights to and from Switzerland, with transfers to and from the resort.
  • Your own bedroom within a staff chalet, with shared kitchen and bathroom facilities.
  • Ski pass and ski hire.
  • Insurance covering emergency sports and medical needs.

Most chalets are within walking distance of staff accommodation. Driving ability is a bonus, but is not essential.

Candidate Requirements

  • Strong culinary skills, ideally gained in yachting, luxury chalets, fine dining, Michelin-level restaurants or private households.
  • Confidence in menu planning, ingredient sourcing and accommodating dietary requirements.
  • A friendly, professional manner and confidence working in an open kitchen.
  • Creativity, sound judgement and a respectful approach to guests and colleagues.
  • A helpful attitude, strong team spirit and willingness to adapt.

Applicants must have a UK or EU passport, a full-time permanent UK address, a UK National Insurance number, a UK bank account and the ability to apply for a GHIC card. Availability for the entire assignment, from 29 November 2026 to 12 April 2027, is essential.
